Fidelity and other fantasies

Danielle Smith, Western Washington University

Abstract

Fidelity and Other Fantasies is comprised of poems and short prose with the theme of fidelity at its core -- religious faith, monogamy, and familial duty prime among them. The collection grapples with constructions of self, navigates tensions of racial identity, and meditates on resistance to directives and messages of definition. Formally, the experimentation with form seeks to continue the undertaking of disobedience that is explored throughout the narratives.
