Description

Digital privacy can be described as the protection and distribution of an individual’s personal information at their own discretion. The concept of digital privacy is important to early childhood development and learning. With internet access being a reality of the digital age, and as children mature into adulthood it is vital that they learn the dos and don’ts when it comes to sharing their information online and navigating the ins and outs of the internet. Sharing of personal information can be both intentional and unintentional. With social media being at the forefront of many people’s everyday lives, the lines between what is okay to share and what may be harmful to share can appear blurred. When digital privacy education is emphasized and implemented into traditional education, children are better equipped to navigate social boundaries and understand more clearly their impact and the impact sharing their personal information online can have on themselves and on others. Digital Privacy Detective is a web game designed to educate and nurture the minds of our youth.
