The Rise of Homelessness in Canada

Research Mentor(s)

Edward Alden

Description

Homelessness is a cycle of destruction. An individual experiencing homelessness moves throughout our country struggling to find the one resource that may trigger a resolution to the destruction they fight every day. The Canadian Ministry of Housing and Diversity and Equality strongly believes that one of the biggest battles for Canada to fight is within the borders of our own country. The battle is a daily struggle for dignity from the face of destruction fought by 235,000 brothers, sisters, mothers, grandfathers, nephews, and our own children. Canada can win the battle with a solution that bolsters our economy, increases access to services, and houses those most desperately needing a place to call home. Chez - Soi was a government funded research project that proved successful in ending homelessness for the individuals involved, but has ended with the end of the research grant. Moving forward I believe the answer to the problem is being able to restart this project permanetly until homelessness is ended in Canada.
