Abstract
The Business of Research is a documentary style crash course designed for undergraduate psychology students to learn more about how research is conducted and the impacts of the academic system. Discussion includes publishing companies, the replication crisis, statistical misreporting, and a lack of diversity and equity in the research process. Methods of improving psychological science practices are also discussed, including the value of open science, the need for diversity, and system level restructuring. Professionals in the field offer anecdotes of how the academic system has shaped their experience.
