Abstract
At Ensolum, I’ve been working on projects focused on environmental assessment and remediation in La Plata and San Juan County. In person, my in the field focus has mostly centered on mapping a naturally emitting methane gas seepage along a coal seam. The goal is to figure out where the gas is coming from, how much is being released, if it is capable of capture, and what impact it’s having on the environment. Recently I have been working on getting my Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification. I have trained on site for monitoring wells on oil pads and once my certification is done, I will be able to evaluate and sample groundwater for quality and spill prevention to support long-term sustainable remediation strategies. My role as an intern in the office and remotely has been to contribute to data collection, analysis, mapping, and documentation, for both the Durango and Denver Ensolum Office.
