About This Journal

Welcome to Western Washington University's Environmental Education Graduate journal, Summit to Salish Sea: Inquiries and Essays. This publication is designed to celebrate the work of an unusual and exciting Masters of Environmental Education program hosted by Western Washington University's College of the Environment and North Cascades Institute. The articles within this journal represent final capstone presentations which are delivered at the end of the graduate students program. They are separated into two submission styles: speeches and articles. Some of the submissions are enriched with multimedia, including audio, video, and photography.

The students' experience ranges from the summits of the North Cascades to the Salish Sea, an binational location, long recognized for its ecological and cultural diversity. Hosted within the traditional territories of many Coast Salish First Nations, this educational experience influences a rich inquiry into the nuances and complexities of environmental education. Whether students are tackling early childhood environmental education, environmental or education philosophy, or cultural explorations in education, their submissions represent a distinctly powerful Masters experience.

Submission

At this point only students of the program, both alumni and current students, are allowed to submit to this journal. Volumes will be published annually in the Spring, with potential to increase volumes to publish previous graduate students capstones.
