Description
Over the past few years, Western Washington University has been developing a program in which faculty, staff, and graduate students can grow (increase) their multicultural awareness through language proficiency. The Employee Language Program (ELP) is composed of a series of workshops in Spanish, French and Chinese. Each workshop has been designed to meet the expectations of each learning level. The ELP also develops special events tailored to language learners that connect the Spanish speaking community. An analysis of the performance of the ELP will be presented. Stressing the importance of programs like the ELP around colleges in the US is vital for the society we are currently living in. Data collected from the past few years as well as new information provided by the current participants and facilitators will be used to try to determine the impact that ELP has had and will have in tailoring Western’s community.
