Research Mentor(s)

Description
The goal of the Employee Language Program (ELP) is to provide faculty and staff with an opportunity to learn a new language and to provide students with the chance to gain valuable teaching and professional experience. The workshops offered by the program are aimed to increase language proficiency and, in doing so, increase multicultural awareness on Western’s campus. Beginning to advanced workshops and one-on-one conversation partners are provided to accommodate participants of all skill levels. The program builds empathy between students and employees by creating an environment in which the usual university roles have been switched, with the students acting as the teachers and the employees acting as the students. ELP fosters a stronger campus community with more multicultural awareness and deeper connections between staff and students.
