The Three Gorges Dam is the most ambitious hydrological undertaken by mankind and it does not come without its environmental, economical, agricultural, & social problems for the rapidly developing country. The Yangtze River is a centerpiece of Chinese history & it is destined to control their future as well. The parched regions of Northern China are diverting water away from the Yangtze in order to adequately prepare the infrastructure in Beijing for the upcoming Olympic Games. China's Government and the company that is constructing Three Gorges Dam need to evaluate all of the options for protecting the stability of their country in the shadow of this looming crisis.
