Abstract
Classic ragtime piano solos can be made playable on guitar. The guitar, of course, is home to capabilities and limitations alien to the piano, and we start by trying to appreciate them fully. Unlike the piano, the guitar is amenable to a variety of disparate techniques, many of which can be applied to ragtime transcription. Ultimately, the author's technique- essentially classical guitar- is assumed a basis for transcription, and a generalized technique for transcription, especially considerate of the ragtime style, is presented.
