Abstract
Women suffer day in and day out in a society made for men. While awareness of sexism and misogyny is increasing, there are prevailing hidden practices that make women's lives difficult, dangerous, and infuriating. Those of us who can see or feel the wrath of sexism are labeled as “angry”, “crazy”, “hysterical”, or “mad”. But women in America have every right to be angry. This project is a series of five blog posts on the topics of: Pain Management in Medical Care; Safety in Research; and Devaluation in the Workplace. The purpose of this collection is to bring attention to some less well-known feminist issues that whether we are aware of it or not, are all impacted by. It also tells women everywhere that society is blind to certain normalized gender disparities--- but just because they’re hidden does not mean they’re not real. I hope anyone who reads this blog will feel a sense of relief that they are not imagining the existence of such inequalities. Mad Women declares that women’s madness, our fury, is the catalyst of the modern feminist movement and if harnessed, will be the weapon necessary to charge forward in the fight ahead.
