Abstract

An autobiographical work that balances the imagining of a future life with memories of early childhood, all handled in present tense. Formatted in discrete paragraphs, The Anticipations considers the early half of my life spent in Montana. Expressed is not only the memory, but what it feels like to remember these moments, especially in regard to a time in which senses of place and finitude are far different. Composed of three parts, referred to as Distances, my work explores the notions of location and embodiment, with the assertion that to remember childhood, one must remember the landscapes that made up the child.
