Abstract
"The Power of Food” explores what I have identified as the three fundamentals to success in the kitchen- science, connection, and creativity. A collection of personal recipes is woven throughout to help demonstrate these forces in action. Within each chapter, a detailed explanation of the corresponding category is provided as well as a variety of recipes that I felt best fit. Each of the recipes are my original work and they all hold some significance in my life. This may be in the form of a traditional family comfort dish, a childhood favorite of mine, or a dish that evokes specific memories from my life. In addition to the important role of food and the culinary arts in my life, I truly believe food is a universal language. Food has the power to unite people and cultures, while also carrying a story. Through this cookbook I discuss the power of food and its impact on the world as a whole, but also its influence on my life so far. My hope is that these recipes inspire others to feel free in the kitchen, to feel connected to the food we eat, and to appreciate the power of food.
