Abstract
You Were Conceived on the Living Room Floor is a collection of multi-genre short stories that explore connections between magical realism, mental illness, and mother-daughter relationships. This collection fights against negative stereotypes about mental illness and motherhood by focusing on delight and curiosity through blurred lines of fiction and nonfiction. This collection often relies on magical realism to get closer to the truth than factual details, which may come from the sense of control my mom gifted us when she introduced magical thinking into our daily lives.
