Abstract
In Translation is a travel memoir. Structured as a series of essays and sketches, it details the author's experience bicycling through the southeastern United States in 2009 and her subsequent move to Washington for graduate school. Focusing on the author's encounters with people and geography, it contemplates questions of independence and community, trust and vulnerability, risk and security.
