Abstract
The Body is a Situation is a compilation of lyric, imagistic, non-sequitur prose poetry that grapples with complex notions of subjectivity in which self is reliant on other. The poems work in conversation with terminology from the martial art, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, to consider the role of the body in an individual female’s worldly projects. In form, these poems embody the space between self and other and encourage readers to make meaning across that space.
