Abstract
For my internship I worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Watershed Studies (IWS). IWS is a research institute affiliated with the College of the Environment at Western Washington University (WWU) that conducts research on freshwater lakes, streams, and wetlands. The main project that IWS works on is the Lake Whatcom Monitoring Project. This project has been monitoring Lake Whatcom since 1988 with the goal of providing a long-term record of data on a variety of water quality parameters. The monitoring program was initiated because Lake Whatcom is the primary drinking water source for the City of Bellingham and Sudden Valley.
